    Frequently asked questions

What is provided in the DeviGyro RG30 Helix running gear kit?

The DeviGyro RG30 Helix running gear kit includes a pressure barrel, bull nose, top sub swivel, two RG30 Helix centralisers, four extension/sinker bars and two v-stands.

What is the purpose of dual functionality centralisers?

The helix survey method provides optimal accuracy in most situations, however in some situations, non-rotating centralisers may be preferred, for instance in vertical holes.

Is the DeviGyro RG30 Helix suitable for A-size diamond core drilling?

Yes, the DeviGyro RG30 Helix will work in an A-size wireline drill string (35-37 mm).

What are the key differences between DeviGyro RG30 Slimline and DeviGyro RG30 Helix?

The RG30 Slimline is not designed for use with wireline, it is commonly used in combination with a DeviRodder for surveying in short, open hole environments such as drill and blast, where up-holes and horizontal holes are common. Hence it is built using lightweight materials and has a short body.

The RG30 Helix is specifically designed for in-rod, downhole wireline surveying. Hence it has been built with heavier materials and a longer body, containing a top sub, swivel, bullnose, and centralisers.

What length is the RG30 Helix assembly?

    • Approximately 1.3m when assembled without any of the 4 extension/sinker bars provided in the kit
    • 1.9m when assembled with 2 extension/sinker bars
    • 2.5m when assembled with all 4 extension/sinker bars.
