Da Vinci to Amazon: From Creativity to Scale in Geoscience A premier industry forum exploring how geoscience moves from discovery to definition to execution.
Now in its 12th year, Xploration Tech Symposium (XTS) has become one of the
most respected technical forums held alongside AME Roundup.
Hosted by IMDEX, XTS provides a neutral platform for industry leaders,
researchers and innovators to discuss the future of geoscience and mining.
The focus is on ideas, collaboration and open technical dialogue rather than
product promotion.

2027 Theme: From Da Vinci to Amazon: Creativity to Scale in Geoscience
Full agenda coming soon!
Geoscience operates in fundamentally different modes - from creative discovery to structured interpretation and scalable execution. Yet these stages are often disconnected.
XTS 2027 explores how we better connect these "personalities" of geoscience to unlock more value from the subsurface
Opening: The Translation Problem in Geoscience
This opening session will introduce the concept of geoscience as a system of distinct but interdependent ways of thinking, highlighting the disconnects between discovery, interpretation, and execution — and why solving this “translation problem” is critical to the future of mining.
Session 1: Da Vinci - Exploration as Art & Anomaly
Discovery, creativity, and the search for the unknown Exploration operates at the edge of uncertainty, where success depends on identifying anomalies, embracing ambiguity, and thinking creatively — much like Da Vinci himself. This session will explore how innovation, intuition, and new technologies are shaping the future of discovery.
Session 2: Transfer Function - From Discovery to Definition
Translating geoscience into structured, usable insight Between discovery and mining lies the most fragile step: converting complex, often messy data into models that can be trusted and acted upon. This session examines the “transfer function” — the tools, workflows, and thinking required to transform exploration outputs into defined, mineable knowledge.
Session 3: Amazon - Scaling Insight into Execution
Predictability, scalability, and operational excellence Mining demands consistency, repeatability, and scale — a mindset more aligned with companies like Amazon than traditional exploration. This session explores how geoscience insights are operationalised into systems, processes, and decisions that enable efficient, scalable resource extraction
